What are the top lifestyle trends in 2022? As the end of the year approaches, Pinterest is looking ahead to new trends in the fields of decoration, fashion, beauty, travel and even cooking. After another year of blockades, restrictions, and usually frustrating news, Internet users are looking for originality and color, and they certainly are not opposed to breaking the rules.
Pinterest has 400 million users worldwide and has identified 175 emerging lifestyle trends that may affect 2022.
In terms of beauty, attention should be paid to eyelids, teeth and even jewelry on the skin in 2022. The platform observed a 145% increase in searches for "unique skin piercing" and a 100% increase in searches for "crystal eye makeup". Similarly, dental jewellery continues to gain popularity, with searches rising by 85%. Finally, rhinestone pedicure is becoming a new trend, with searches on Pinterest increasing by more than 150%.
Originality is also on the nail and hair agenda. For example, searches for Galaxy Nail have increased by 115%. In 2022, hair will look different, mullet will make a comeback and search volume will increase by 190%. But the sense of naturalness seems to have attracted much attention, with searches for natural short hairstyles increasing by 185%.
In the fashion world, pearls will adorn women and men. Searches for "pearl wedding decorations" increased by 185%, while searches for men's pearl necklaces on the platform increased 7 times.
After a year full of dark news, the color caught the attention of users, and searches for electric blue clothing increased by 140%. On the other hand, Gothic style is breaking through in alternative ways, and there is growing interest in Gothic pajamas (+185%) and baby clothes (+120%)!
If creativity is daily work, then the traditional checkerboard pattern seems to be making a comeback in almost everywhere, from nails (+165% search) to checkerboard tile floors (+5x search). All these show a certain degree of interest in retro trends among the younger generation.
After we have all spent so much time there, the feeling of being at home has never been more important. The trend after lock-in remains strong. On Pinterest, users have been searching in droves for Aphrodite’s aesthetic wallpaper ideas (+180%), while plants are still the focus of interest for users, and searches for "staircase garden" and "flower ceiling" have increased 175% searched three times.
Internet users continue to improve their interior design, and every space in the home becomes a source of inspiration. For example, searches for ideas for luxury laundry rooms increased 11 times. Home interiors are also being optimized for four-legged friends. Searches for "luxury dog house" increased by 115%, and searches for the "catify your home" trend on the platform increased fourfold.
It seems that health also extends to spirituality. Searches for "how to protect your energy" increased by 60%, while searches for "how to improve your vibration" increased by 145%. The Aura color also caught the attention of Pinterest users, and the number of searches on the platform increased 36 times.
In addition, money issues are another hot topic on social networks such as TikTok and form part of the 2022 trend, from investment skills (+195%) to financial education (+155%).
Although travel in 2021 may be restricted, the taste of adventure has not diminished. For example, searches for the best all-inclusive resort have doubled. But, most importantly, because of international cuisine, Internet users have already tasted an escape from reality. Searches for traditional Norwegian recipes increased by 120%, and users found that the reason for the Philippines was "authentic" recipes (+35%) and Russian "traditional" foods (+3x). Africa is also a source of culinary trends, with traditional South African recipes (+150%) and traditional Arabic cuisine (2x).
